Frugal living is not only for people who are tight on their money. In fact, many on the UK Rich List became where they are today because of their consistent saving habits and strategies of increasing their wealth.

If you examine the Rich List 2011, you'll notice that all of the tycoons on the list made their money through either successful investments or successful businesses. This trend is a great lesson for aspiring millionaires and billionaires. Although, making more money is only half of the equation to get yourself on the rich list. You also have to be able to be frugal with your money, especially when you are starting off. This ensures that you keep your accumulating wealth, and that it grows consistently. The act of saving money also gets you on the fast track to financial success because the extra money that you save can be used for further investments and as capital for your business ventures.

There are many ways to be frugal and save money. Here are a few ways on saving more money. We usually go to the closest ATM and withdraw money. There is a fee assessed at both banks usually totaling $5 to $7. Lottery tickets are another lure, we buy these tickets "just in case" but you have a better chance at being hit by lightning then winning the lottery.

Cigarettes are a cancer on your budget and your lungs. A pack of cigarette run from $6 to $10 a pack depending on what state you are in. We love going to gourmet coffee shops, sometimes daily. Take the $6 cup of coffee you buy and multiply it times the days you go…what a savings.

Buying generic brands of groceries can save a lot of money too. For instance, a brand name box of corn flakes may cost $4.79 when a generic costs $1.99. Eating out is one of the most expensive habits we have. An average bill is $28.47 and average 82 restaurant visits a year, adding up to $2341 a year. Bar hopping is double the cost of a restaurant.

Leading a frugal lifestyle, after years of excess, can be incredibly difficult at first. But with enough time and with enough work you will start to see that the benefits can be remarkable. Here are some tips from a mother of four who now lives, quite happily, off of less than a quarter of what she was earning two years ago.

1. Don't be afraid of cloth diapers, even the cheap ones are at least as effective as most off brand disposables.
2. Look for deals everywhere you can, the internet is full of them.
3. Learn how to coupon effectively, if you do it the right way you'll never pay retail again.
4. Make a budget and stick to it
5. Avoid shopping for entertainment, go to the store only when you need something and try to limit your trips
6. Learn to cook from scratch
7. Breastfeed it's free
8. Walk and bike when you can
9. Cut and dye your own hair
10. Splurge on the important things, and know what the important things are

These things alone can save you thousands of dollars a year and they aren't really that difficult to accomplish.
